Radiation Protection (Health Physics Surveyor)

Matom Health Physics Surveyor training, designed in a modular format, enables trainees to enrol for an NVQ Level 2 Qualification in Radiation Protection, which can be completed in conjunction with this programme. The minimum age for enrollment is 18 years to comply with Classified Workers regulations.

  • Function testing radiation protection instrumentation
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Use of Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) such as respirators and breathing apparatus
  • Recording radiation protection monitoring and survey results
  • Dynamic analysis of the information and determining actions
  • Clearance monitoring
  • Understanding the relevant health and safety legislation with reference to the tasks, the plant and the actions required to control hazards
  • Working at heights via the use of ladders and scaffolding
  • Working in confined spaces
